WITH THE ARTIST APOLONIA SOKOL

Apolonia, Apolonia

Léa Glob

In 2009, Léa Glob was asked to produce a documentary portrait as part of her studies. She was immediately fascinated when she met Apolonia Sokol, a charismatic young painter born in an underground theatre in Paris. Caught up in this eccentric yet vulnerable character, the filmmaker followed her from the age of 23 to 36. 13 years in the life of a woman seeking freedom and recognition in the ruthless world of contemporary art. 13 years of artistic research between Paris and Los Angeles, and of struggle with her friend Oksana Chatchko, co-founder of Femen. Never before have we seen such a close and accurate depiction of these two artists in the making, both in front of and behind the camera. A fiery portrait.
