Jan Hoet, Thank God for the Gift

For years, curator from Ghent Jan Hoet held sway in the contemporary art world. Admired and reviled, this colourful figure is undoubtedly the ideal protagonist for an uplifting portrait. There's no shortage of adjectives to describe him: misogynous, charismatic, short-tempered, warm-hearted, … He has made and broken careers (and lives) according to his whims. In times of #Metoo and accusations of abuse of power by personalities who, by the way, also make an appearance (Jan Fabre), this film gives insight into the process of domination and practices we hope will soon be a thing of the past.
